And wood already has character when laying. This means that despite strict quality controls on individual planks growth-related peculiarities, such as drying hairline cracks, slight colour differences, etc. may occur. These natural characteristics cannot be completely excluded, but may not exceed 5% of the delivered quantity. For solid wood flooring, slight dimensional tolerances (+/- 0.25 mm) are commercially available and unavoidable.


Classifications

Below we give you an overview of the sorting characteristics of the common wood species oak.

The definition of sorting regulations is based on 4 quality criteria:

Select

Sporadic smaller, healthy knots, natural wood colour, harmonious grain, growth-related differences in colour

Nature

Healthy, compactly grown, as well as medium and filled knots, in principle free of sapwood

Markant

filled knots, compactly grown knots, vivid structure, smaller cracks, other wood typical characteristics

Rustic

open knots as will and filled surface cracks, cracks at the head and long sides unlimited sapwood, technically proper
